Default California emissions

yo i have a 95 civic lx i wanted to do a motor swamp which one would be a good choice and also be able to pass the california smog checks?

The main thing is it has to be same model year or newer. In your case with a 95, you basically need a 95 cause everything newer will be OBDII which can be done but not as easy.

You also cant do the B20. There is some crazy law about truck motors in cars.

Or you can just move........and then do whatever the hell you want.



LEVIII Around me we have laws about emissions.......but i can buy inspections stickers cuz i have a hookup......so i will be getting a brand new sticker and running no cat..........are there any hookup in cali for that? How often do u get tested? We go every 2 years.

Im not sure how often we go. New cars arent as frequent.

We used to do the sticker thing too, but they caught on and now its ran with the part brand and the eo and all kinds of bull that all has to match up before they even do the acutall test.

Hope they cant hear my cams when I have to go, lol.

this is a 1.8 liter engine from a 08 basemodel civic i was doing a swap at work, i’m not really 2 sure when it come to doing mods this big or different but i was hoping if anyone out there had any idea if it’s possible to put this in a em2 from looking at both motors outside the car they look almost identical same motor mount locations a/c looks about same alternator etc but the difference i saw is clearly the d17 is belt driven.The 1.8 liter is chain driven i’m and has a bit more longevity help
