Cam gear adjustments

Hey just bought a skunk2 adjustable cam gear for my d16z6. I have the typical mods - KN cold air, 2" cat back, 4-2-1 header.
How do the adjustments work... advancing, retarding... how much is safe. I looked around for a while and couldn't find a good thread on this.

let a tuner do it

Well I really want to learn this along with everything else about my car. I am currently in the process collecting my stuff for a custom turbo so I would rather learn than pay someone to deal with my car. Does anyone feel like explaining this?

no, seriously. Let a tuner do it. You can destroy your engine if you mess with the timing and you don't know exactly what you're doing. Tuners know what they're doing, which is why they get paid to work on cars.

So if I want to put it on... for the lighter cam gear should I just leave it centered? I really want to learn to tune and will probably be buying some kind of fuel management soon so is there a place where I can read about tuning with a cam gear? Also I live in Spokane WA and tuners are a little hard to come by. (only 500k people here) It's not like I live in a huge city where lots of people do this. I thought this site was to help people learn to do this kind of stuff not tell them to just go pay someone else to do it...

Yes you can put it on and set it at zero for now.
