Default cam gears

prolly a pretty simple question, but when should new gam gears be put in, like AEM or Skunk2... i wasnt sure if it was somethin you should do when youre really doin alot of internal work or if that would be ok to do on its own. also, do they make much more of a difference in power? lower or increase gas mileage? shorten engine life?

you don treally nead them unless you're putting over 500hp to the wheels and wanna squeeze a little more power of the engine without tearing into the bottom end, changing your feul system, or changing your turbo/sc/nitrous system or whatever.

or if you have milled your head, installed thin head gasket or something that would change the distance between cam and crank, you can only do so much with the teeth on the belt..
