CAR JERKS

Hey, I am not much of a car guy so excuse me if I have no clue of what i am talking about...

2002 Honda Civic Lx--stock engine
When my car is stopped at a stop sign or light, it begins to jerk. Also when it is parked, I rev it, but at 5000 RPM and engine begins to jerk and hesitate and i cant rev it past 5000 RPM. Anyone know whats going on here, give me some tips and ways to fix this.

Thanks a lot..

RE: CAR JERKS

why are you revving it to 5,000rpm in park in the first place?

Because I was told by the guy at pep boys to clean out the intake pipe where the butterfly valve is with this spray cleaner.

its probably the engine torquing around in the mounts...plus a rev limiter. i know the d17's arent near as capable of anything that the older d16's and d15's are...but im not sure what it will do to itself if you rev it to high. it may be at risk of falling apart if you rev it up too much and honda just put a limiter at 5k.

could possibly be a broken motor mount

yyea im thinking revlimiter, the newer Civics have them i think....but 5000 seems really low to set a rev limiter at. idk man, have you had a basic tune up lately?

when you have it in park, newer cars usually have a lower revlimit then if you were driving it, i know my friends grand am limits it to 4500 in park but goes all the way to 6 in drive.

as to why it jerks at idle, check the mounts, and also cneck your idle speed, i know mine was 2 low for a while and it liked to shake a bit
