Cleaning a Head

Hey I was wondering if anyone out there has cleaned a head thoroughly before installation? What are the best products to use for carbon and oil? What degreasers have worked the best?

Final Impact....Question for you. On the bottom of the head I got, some of the valves are carboned up, but some are yellowish looking. What causes this? Every other head I have seen has carbon on all the valves!!
