complete newb, where do i start?

ok i'm new at all this engine stuff, so ive got a honda civic dx 96. my engine just blew, it had about 340000 miles on it.

anyways now its time for an engine swap :)

i obviously wanna go faster, but i dont want to make too technical. i wanted to have a vtec engine swap go in, but now im hearing that my car wont pass smog or sumthing if it isnt the same engine, i live in CA. i know an engine swap can be done, but with what engine? will it still be street legal? i wanna keep it as it is with the swap at first, then i wanna go beyond thAT. i also want to keep my ac if thats any help

[sm=welcomesign.gif] to HCF. [sm=groupwave.gif][sm=groupwave.gif][sm=groupwave.gif]

You could throw in a B16A2 (160HP VTEC) and it should stay legal.

340000? that attests to how reliable honda engines are.

Or if you want more power, a B18C1 (170HP), and more power and cash......a B18C5 (195HP).
