compression question

i am putting a vtec z6 head on a d15 block, my mechanic said i shouldnt take the risk cause my pistons wont be able to handle the new compression.... but i dont think the compression changes 2 much.... wut do u guys think?

a mini-me swap is a VERY common swap, dont worry about it man. If the compression got messed up that bad, a large part of this forum would have messed up engines.

yea but my fear is that my connecting rods and pistons would go on me.....i noe a lot of people have done this swap but u can neevr be 2 sure

You will be fine. You could even shave the head a bit to bump the CR if you want. Where people get into trouble is over-revving their mini-me's. I guess because they are vtec they think they are indestructable. Stock bottom ends should not be revved over 7200 rpm, even if your top end can handle it.

d15s have been able to handle 180hp on boost. a d15 with a z6 head on it might make 130 hp with bolt ons so you will be just fine
