Compression ratios......explain :) please

Okay,
Not sure if this is in the right place.

This is why I prefer to get stock cars and build them myself.
But I can't complain because I got a good trade....I think?

Anywhoo.. so i found out that my car's compression ratio has been changed from a 9:6 to a 9:1.

Elaborate on this for me please. What sort of power gains has been gotten etc etc.

Thanks

If I remove the turbo setup and just put headers and exhaust, would this create any problems?

islandtuner 05-08-2009 10:30 AM

I don't wanna make myself look or sound ignorant. :)
I was searching Wikipedia and I might have mistyped.
Is it a 9:6 CR or a 9.6:1 CR changed to 9:1 CR?
I think that one (9.6:1 CR changed to 9:1)sounds right because I was watching a video http://www.5min.com/Video/Engine-com...io-cc-92141428 on the combustion process and how they arrive at the CR and I highly doubt that it could be 9:6.
That would mean then, that there is a clearance volume of 6 and a swept volume of 3?
That don't sound right.
I told y'all by the time I finish with this car I will be a honda genius :)

Yes it will. Im guesing the car has been tuned for the turbo setup so the fuel to air ration has been adjusted along with timing. If you just take off the turbo and slap on the stock headers and intake the car will still be expecting the same amount of extra air the turbo was forcing in, so it will inject more gas cause you to burn too much fuel. So your best bet would b to buy a stock ecu and switch it out with the one you have now, then revert everything back to stock. Again you have yet to post pictures of car after members have told you to post them so we could see your setup. You havent even listed the parts so we have know idea how good of a build it is.

I have posted pics and listed the parts in another post

islandtuner 05-08-2009 11:30 AM

and also in another post i said that the ecu is a stock OBD2 and there aren't any big fuel injectors just stock. I will check to see if there is an upgraded fuel pump.
