Compression test help

Default Compression test help

I want to do a compression check on my Ls engine.The engine is not in a vechile can i just turn the crank or flywheeland get the compression pressure with my compression tester?

yeah you can do it that way but make sure you hold the throttle body wide open and the gauge screwed in tight. its gonna take forever though man.

i don't mean to thread jack but .... if ur car passes the compression test but fails the leakdown test then what the problem?

I did the test.I took out the spark plugs,opened the throttle,put the compression tester on,then I turned the crank pulley with my ratchet.It took me a couple turns to get something on the guage the # were not good.Is there something I did wrong there isnt much oil in it and it wasn't warmed up.Do you think I should still go head with install and test once it gets in car before i see the proper #.
