Which controls compression and exhaust stroke
Does the head control the compress or the crank. Reason i ask is i ahve an engine in two pieces. Want to make sure number one is correct before installing head new belt going on with process. So how do i know for sure when number one cylinder is tdc on compression or exhaust stroke or if number 4 is on compression or exhaust stroke with no head attached.
Both pistons are tdc at same time ???? |
What engine?
Crank TDC1 = mark on crank gear aligned with pointer on block. Cam TDC1 = cam gear arrow pointing straight UP and horizontal lines aligned with top of head. |
Hi ron ,
Crank pointer alinged with pointer and cam is alinged Both are Separated at the time . It isa 94 civic with a D16Z6 Just want to make sure i dont assemble with it 180 off |
If the timing belt is installed with the cam and crank simultaneously positioned as I mentioned, then the mechanical timing will be correct.
