Converter?

Well, to start off, I bought my car from my brother who had blew the engine. He threw a rod, and the piston went through the bottom of the block.

With that said, I bought it from him, and I put a new engine into it, and ect. When he I talked to him, he said something about a check engine light and his catalytic converter.

Would the catalytic converter make the check engine light go on, and what should I do next?

thanks!

RE: Converter?

you can just replace the cat. or you might need a new O2 sensor that is placed at the bottom of the exhaust manifold and just before the cat. either way, its not going to be tooo expensive.

u should be able to go to something like an advance auto and they can check the code to see which it is.

You can just check the code yourself. Just search. Anyhow, the cat could be causing you to throw a code because of a messed up air fuel ratio. See what the code is first and then come back here
