RE: d15b or z6
D15b.. I just put a z6 head on my b8.. I've done a lot of research and it seems like this set up has a lot of potential, so I didnt go with an all out swap.

RE: d15b or z6
if you want to go put internals in for the d15b, use aftermarket rods for a z6, but you would need to have custom pistons made.
the z6 is usually cheaper and easier to find parts for |
RE: d15b or z6
D15B all the way

RE: d15b or z6
D16

RE: d15b or z6
yeah i was leaning more toward the d15b, but that motor is like $500 but i can get the d16 for like 2 or 300 from my friend. i like the thought of the full jdm motor though, so i dont know. but keep the feedback coming. if u have any kind of info on the motors, feel free to let loose.

RE: d15b or z6
the d15b tranny's were availible with a lsd option, and have a little more compression than a z6

RE: d15b or z6
Besides the LSD trans would there be any advantage to the D15 over the D16? (Boosted.)
|
RE: d15b or z6
not really any advantage. the d15B has a better rod to stroke ratio, which will allow it to rev a bit higher easier (lower piston speeds=less broken parts). custom pistons are hard to find for a d15b, because it usess the longer d16 rods so the piston is special design
so if you are going to build it internally then it would be easier to go with a z6 because you can get cheaper off the shelf internal parts for it |
RE: d15b or z6
<---------------------------loves his boosted D16Z6
