D15B2_how much HP_62 or 102?
Found my engine type for my '89 Civic HB on the list. Thanksto whomeverputting that list there. Here is the description:
D15B/1/2/7 1.5L SOHC non-VTEC '88-'95 Civic's 62-102hp
That is a pretty wide range, and makes me wonder how much horsepowermy engine actually has. Sure seems like 62! Slower than moleasses. Can anyone explain how to determine a more accurate estimate?

Found on wikipedia:
D15B1 (Same as the D15B2 engine, but with a mild camshaft, and a restrictor plate between the throttle body and intake header) [ul][*]Found in: [ul][*]1988-1991 Honda Civic Hatchback [ul][*]Displacement: 1493 cm³[*]Bore and stroke: 75 mm X 84.5 mm[*]Compression: 9.2:1[*]Power: 70hp (52kW) @ 4500 rpm & 83 ft·lbf @ 3000 rpm[*]Valvetrain: SOHC (4 valves per cylinder)[*]Fuel Control: OBD-O DPFI[/ul][/ul] [/ul]You could verify this by opening up your hood and looking for an "Engine no." stamped plate in your engine bay. It should be somewhere near the front of the engine bay, on top of where the radiator is.

I have a carbureted 87 civic with a D15a2 that gets around 70 to the wheels...BUT for 4-5 years, I drove it around with really clogged valves and retarded timing, so it was probably around 40 hp at the crank. I just remember after I rebuilt the car, my friend was assuring me that I doubled my hp by cleaning the valves.
