Default d16 bore

i am about to build another motor after i throw a rod out of the front of my y8, and was think of what way to go. i have a good head with a crower stage 3 cam wait in go in before i throw the rod, so i was thinkin abouta few different thing. 1 d16block bored outwith d15 crank with pm7 pistonwith my head and cam. or 2a d16 block bored out with a d17 crank and piston with my head, or 3trying to get my h22ato fire andput it the rest of theway in the civic

what is the most, and still safe you can bore out a d16 and still use it as a ever day car, some drag and scca

a few pic of the h22 in the car now just not fireing

you cant stick a d15 crank in a d16 and vis versa. they have different diameter journals. You could stick a d15b in there though

there is a great write up on a way to direct swap d-series parts to get the best d-series motor with minimal modification in Honda Tuning August 07 issue. This is a great description with pictures that i really suggest reading. It's called the "Super D". they used the d16a6 block from a 91 CRX. they used d17 GX pistons, d16a6 rods (i think, its not really clear they just show the d17 compared to the a6's but im guessing since they are using the a6 block it is the a6 rod, itswider.), they notched the block a little for rod clearance (this doesnt look too hard), also removed material from the main bearing girdle for rod clearance, d17a7 oil pump, d17 main seal, d17 oil pick up, d17 crank seal housing, d17 oil pan (inner baffling trimmed to increase oil flow in case of impact), d17 timing belt pulley (modified crank timing wheel machined off), d15b2 (accessory wheel machined off and inner diameter opeed up and rekeyed to match d17), d16a6 head im guessing you could use y8 too since they are interchangable, but they did head work with the valves to increase compression ratio, they used the y8 intake manifold to make the most power(compared to d16a6, and z6), then they changed the aem cam gear by one tooth to match up the timing. after all said and done they super d produced max hp of 171. i recomend reading this issue if you want to make some kind of hybrid d series.contact honda tuning for past issues.

i think so too, but you may have to notch the block and main bearing girdle for rod clearance, just check rod clearance of coarse if you decide to go this way.
