What would be a rough estimate of what kind of hp and tq a D16y7 with a y8 intake manifold, AEM shortram intake, a header, and veilside exaust system? What other mods would you recomend to bring the hp up to around 160-170?

 

106chp@6800/103lb-ft@5500? not sure on the RPM for teh tq.

turbo would be your best and cheapest way to up your hp that much.

 

I would recomend putting a y8 head on there. You'll be gaining 21HP and VTEC! Search Mini Me for more info man. But with a y8 head and a good port n polish job, I'm sure you could hit your HP goals. Afterwards you could then slap on a turbo and with a good dyno produce even more hp.. or you could just turbo it right away like Nail said.

Looked at info on the mini me swap I decided to go it and get it ported and polished like you said. Then add boost later on. Thanks for the help.

 

doest the y7 start out with 106 hp? aftr all those mods it should be higher? no?

 

crank hp and whp are usually 2 different things. a stock y7 only dynos 90ish whp. and about 94 lb ft.

 

uhuh....plus the s40 transmission found on y7's sucks...

 

before you do the mini-me get the y8 transmission. its one of the best things you can do for a y7 powered car.

ps with 'all those mods' hed be lucky if he was hitting stock chp at teh wheels.

 

S20 tranny is the best IMO

 

wierd one person hates the s20 and another loves...? huh. i guess thats wat mine is and i dont like not being able to choose first gear. (its auto). im going to do a mini or swap it to a y8,not sure yet, so if i change tranny,, does the ecu need to be chnged? my guess is yes. but if i leave the auto in,,i have to find the hook up for the v-tec ,,theres a wire diagram somewere ,ill have to find it. does all this sound right ?
