I was informing Trust that the PCV system does not function to control idle speed. It just so happens that the PCV system uses IM vacuum to perform its function (reduce emissions). A leak in any system that uses IM vacuum may increase engine idle speed. This does not mean that such systems function in idle speed control. For example, if you disconnect the cruise control vacuum hose, the engine idle speed will increase due to a higher amount of air flowing into the IM. Clearly, the cruise control is not part of the idle control system. By contrast, the IACV and FITV do control idle speed by specifically regulating the amount air allowed to bypass the throttle body into the IM.

ive checked all vacuum line, throttle and IM. i checked the PCV and it was bad, changed it and helped a lil. still surging in idle from 900 to 2200 rpm. i think it might be the IACV so i went and ordered one today and it will be here tomarrow morning.all hoses are brand new and hooked up correctly. went driving with load on engine, it does not surge.

thank you for ur guys help by the way...

smarta**

to the OP, that's exactly what my friend's ej2 was doing; with the new IACV (his was the FITV), it should idle fine again.

Why not try cleaning the IACV before buying ($$$) a new one? Cleaning the IACV often leads to a fix. Have you also tried bleeding the cooling system?

that's untrue. do not buy anything from someone who says that... they don't know what they are talking about and whenever they were using the engine they probably didn't know what they were doing.

P.S. it's VTEC.
