RE: D16Y8 Question
I would suggest finishing the Y8 motor upgrade. find a tranny out of a 97/newer EX and swap swap it with yours whenever it finally goes. you also might want to find a Y8 ecu for automatic. if the old intake manifold is working fine for you, then keep it. otherwise, find one from a Y8.
on top of this, you may have some wiring issues for swapping the ecu and tranny. others on here can help you with that much better than I. Good luck and I hope it goes well for you. |

RE: D16Y8 Question
I see that you have an Automatic. You should consider an auto - manual swap. Then, it will jump faster.
You can get any 92-00 d-series trans. I would suggest the 96-00 EX trans (P4A-B000) as it will be the best match. Otherwise a 92-95 EX trans (P20-B000) will work very well too. Any other trans ---A000 will still work and will give you better top end power, you will lose your low end power (what you want). fyi A000 means small bearing case:CX/DX/HX/VX B000 means large bearing case:EX/Si (Si only 92-95) The difference between the Y8 and the Z6 trans are Y8's have stronger steel forks and Z6's have aluminum forks. Also, for manual the other difference is that second the Y8's second gear ratio is a little higher than the Z6: Y8: 1.909 Z6: 1.900 Trans Gear ratio specs: http://www.geocities.com/bing_bong916/trannyspecs1.html So, my suggestion is to get a the cheapest 92-95 Z6 EX/Si or 96-00 Y8 EX trans that you can get your hands on. |
