engine choices
I have a d16y8 and I'm thinking of building it. But there is something sexy about a b series to me. Would it be worth it to get one? or should I stick with what I got. What is the HP potential of a y8 if properly built.

RE: engine choices
theres tons of info around this and many other sites so my advice is do ur research and go from there

RE: engine choices
if i had to swap in an engine, i'd go GSR or H22a, probably the H though. Torque ftw!

RE: engine choices
and a heavier engine:eek:
I have a d16y8 and I'm going to swap it with a b16a2 with LSD transmission |
RE: engine choices
Well, I'm trying to find one with everything I need for less than $2,000.Hard find I know. Anyone know of a place that has cheaper that $2,000 set up?

RE: engine choices
tigerjapense.com not sure if i spelt it right but u can get a b16a for under $2,000

RE: engine choices
maybe an obdI b16 for around 2k , and about the weight its not really that much of a difference maybe about 50 pounds more so its not that big of a deal , a friend of mine has an eg6 with an h22 and it handles just as good as my ek with a b18c

RE: engine choices
around50-75lbs when said and done, nothing really. B16 is a nice little platform to start from.
|
RE: engine choices
they are nice , they are just too expensive for the power the make

RE: engine choices
In most cases yes, I mean 2k for a 150 whp 110 wtq engine is crazy. But, it has amazing gearing and can be revved up to hell it has a nice flowing head also. If your going FI its not bad at all. If you want to get some torque and N/A power its not the right motor. If you look around you can find B16s for $700-1200.

RE: engine choices
Well, there seems to be a sort of sub-honda culture rivalry between the B-series and H-series engines. So, in a two sided situation, witch would be the better swap for overall performance?
|
RE: engine choices
i would go with a B series.
|
RE: engine choices
B-Series seems to be the most popular choice. I was just wondering, if there was much difference between the two. If maybe one was more build friendly or something.
|
RE: engine choices
if it was me and i had the cash niether for performance on stock engine, or swap, i go for the swap. as of right now i got a stock engine in mines, but planning to drop niether gsr or ls-v.
