engine choices

I have a d16y8 and I'm thinking of building it. But there is something sexy about a b series to me. Would it be worth it to get one? or should I stick with what I got. What is the HP potential of a y8 if properly built.

if i had to swap in an engine, i'd go GSR or H22a, probably the H though. Torque ftw!

RE: engine choices

maybe an obdI b16 for around 2k , and about the weight its not really that much of a difference maybe about 50 pounds more so its not that big of a deal , a friend of mine has an eg6 with an h22 and it handles just as good as my ek with a b18c

around50-75lbs when said and done, nothing really. B16 is a nice little platform to start from.

RE: engine choices

they are nice , they are just too expensive for the power the make

In most cases yes, I mean 2k for a 150 whp 110 wtq engine is crazy. But, it has amazing gearing and can be revved up to hell it has a nice flowing head also. If your going FI its not bad at all. If you want to get some torque and N/A power its not the right motor. If you look around you can find B16s for $700-1200.

RE: engine choices

Well, there seems to be a sort of sub-honda culture rivalry between the B-series and H-series engines. So, in a two sided situation, witch would be the better swap for overall performance?

RE: engine choices

i would go with a B series.

RE: engine choices

B-Series seems to be the most popular choice. I was just wondering, if there was much difference between the two. If maybe one was more build friendly or something.
