engine flush?
 

Hi...I wanted to put a couple new things under my hood and someone advised me to do an engine flush so that I wont have nasty gunk all over my new things....They forgot to mention the price..Does any one know how much it would cost...also I heard it could be bad for the car...is this true?...Is it worth it to get my engine flush or not?.....

Search the forum for Seafoam treatment, which should clean up your engine for only a few very dollars.

ya i would never FLUSH the engine because on a older motor.... that gunky oil around your oil seals COULD be keeping the oil seals from leaking... same problem when sometimes switching to synthetic oils that will also clean the gunk out some and leave ya with a oil leak..... if your worried about any sludge then i would recomend doing the SEAFOAM to the engine thru vacume and in the crankcase.... then after say a gas tank of driving then drop the oil pan and buy a new oil pan gasket of course. and clean the oil pan out really good and then just reinstal it, of course you have to take the exaust manifold off to get the oil pan out BUT by droping the oil pan and cleaning it you get alot of the gunk/sludge/shavings that could be stuck at the bottom.

cleaning the oil pan is easy when its off the car. just get 1/2 gallon of diesel fuel and a old toothbrush or paint brush and just have at it on the insides. and for the tight spots ive found that brake cleaner and a tooth brush works great to get those tight spots. just wipe it off before the brake cleaner drys or the gunk seems to stick to the pan again. ;) but at least it wont be in the tight corner. alittle more diesel should clean it up really nicely!

let it dry for alittle and slap alittle sealer around the new oil seal top and bottom and simply reinstal the oil pan and such. now you know ya got a clean ass oil pan free from sludge and debri!

wow, u seem to know ur stuff. i think i need to do that to my car too! only if i live closer to u i make u do it with a little money. lmao

Define "things" -- and are you talking abot a coolant flush, or just cleaning the engine bay?
