I just got a new Honda Civic 2007 2 dr. I want to know what brand of oil is preferred, if any. I know I have to put in 5W - 20. Will synthetic with same oil weight be better for the car? If anyone has a recommendation please tell me, I just want to be careful not to put in any old oil a mechanic has in his stock room. I think I might use Hamp for the oil filter.

 

A honda mechanic told me once that if you decide to use synthetic, you should use it from the beginning of the engines life. So an 07 or 08 eventually. But this was his opinion as well there is no specific rules on when to use synthetic. Hope that's helpful
