Engine problem

My car is a 97 coupe with a d16y8. The problem that I am having with it is that whenever I shift gear the car seems to "studder" (for lack of a better word) until it gets higher into the rpm range. It seems to be worse in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. But it doesn't do this all the time. I thought that it might be a fuel problem so I changed out the fuel filter and added some injector cleaner to my gas. This didn't stop the problem. I also changed out the stock wires and plugs. I didn't however change the stock distributor cap or rotor. Does anyone know what might be happening. The car has 131K on it. Preciate it

change your air filter, cap, rotor, see if that helps....

WEll I know that it isn't the airfilter because I just have gotten a short ram intake, I guess it might be the cap and and rotor.

Try Seafoam and put it in the vaccume lines. It also could be in your injectors.

RE: Engine problem

many thing can cause this,... like previously mentioned try all the major tune up things, as well as sea foam. Look for vacuum leaks. One thing that others haven't already mentioned is if your CAT has gone bad(clogged) you will feel that as well.
