Default Engine rebuild part 4

Pistons are in whoo hooo!!!! Went to machine shop yesterday to have vitaras pressed on new A6 rods, put in all new ACL bearings, hastings rings, and threw em in. I only put caps on finger tight, was exhausted, so today will be slapping on plastiguage to check clearances and cranking everything down, hopefully will get to putting in ARP head studs and get the head on. Id post pics if my camera wasent stolen at nopi, so just use your imagination to picture a nice clean D15 block with shiny new Vitara slugs at TDC.

HA! Success, re-assembled the entire bottom end today=plastigaged all bearings (.001 across the board), torqued rods to spec, no binding at all, re-installed main bearing cap, and finally oil pan. Only 1 issue, snapped a rod bolt, but luckily had a couple extra, so just popped it out, put new one in, back on course. Soooo.....tommorow ARP bolts go in, and get the head on. Almost there!!

The vitaras lined up pretty close to zero deck height, right?

Man, I would love nothing more than to post pics of my hard work, but like i said, my camera got jacked at NOPI . Vitaras are perfect with the deck! Well, update for the day, installed ARP bolts, went in very smoothly, then went to put head gasket on-DIDENT FIT. The 2 corner bolts on backside were .5 inches off If someone could help me out, check out the link, this is what i got, and the HG dosent fit my JDM block. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=140019158799
I really wish i could post pics, but just picture everything lining up EXCEPT the back corner bolts, the head gasket covers half the hole for the stud. If someone could let me know what HG to get, i would appreciate it.

Vitaras are perfect with the deck!
Aha! Thank you for letting us know that. There's been some disagreement on the deck height of the JDM D15B. But this seems to confirms my thoughts on it, that the deck is the same as USDM D15s, ~207.45mm.

Ok, im an idiot, dont work on your car when your about to fall asleep. Youll notice in my earlier post i said the head gasket dident fit, well i went to honda and asked for a VX gasket to compare mine with. Well, he brings it over and i slap the gasket i have on top of it and the bolt holes dont line up, I was like "hah, i knew it" then buddys like "dude, flip it over" LINES UP PERFECT. Im such a moron, i could have had the head on, but i dident flip the gasket over. Nice huh? I know. Sooooo.....head goes on tommorow.
