Can anyone recommend a engine rebuilder in California, in the San Mateo county area?

Your rebuilding your stock motor with stock internals? What year is your vessel?

The car is a 1988 Civic hatchback, all stock. The engine is losing oil. The body is beat. The interior needs help. But I bought the car to save fuel and my goal was to get it run a little better and make some small improvements to make her have a little more power.

I bought a motorcycle to save more fuel. So I only use the car in the rainy season. Right now this is research of what I can do and the cost.

honestly, the rebuild isnt worth it. just do a swap to a newer d16z6 sohc vtec. you will love the power and it will cost about the same. then if you want to fix it up more, you have a great engine to work with.

With this info, I can do basic maintance to my car. I have changed water pumps and done a head gasket. But I have never really worked on a Civic engine.

As someone who has never changed an engine, how difficult is it to do this task? I'd also love to change the to a 5 speed transmssion.

Oh would it be easier to pay someone for the effort.

I really appreciate the help!

good, the 4-5 speed conv. is not tough, but the auto-manual is a little harder.
