ORIGINAL: Justice. English?? - How much money do you have? - Are you leaving the engine stock? Building it? Turbocharging it? Just bolt ons? - What are you using the car for? DD? Strip? AutoX? - How much knowledge do you have of swapping engines? - How much horsepower do you want? And dont just say as much as i can get...... But without these answered......nobody can answer anything. |

How much money do you have?
$2000-$3000 - Are you leaving the engine stock? Building it? Turbocharging it? Just bolt ons? imma add header, intake, exhaust, suspension - What are you using the car for? DD? Strip? AutoX? i have no clue just cruisin - How much knowledge do you have of swapping engines? i have none whatsoever - How much horsepower do you want? And dont just say as much as i can get...... 250-300 hp hopefully. |
RE: engine swap for 2000 civic auto
I see you're from CA. For $2k-$3k its gonna be hard to get 250 hp. I would say a turbo is your best bet, but theres only a few turbo kits legal in CA. Edelbrock makes one for 3kI think, its wastegated to 8 psi. I should give you a bit more power. Another route is an engine swap. A B18B full swap is $2200, but you would need to swap it in yourself unless you have any mechanic friends.
If I had 3k to spend on my car, I would buy a manual transmission and turbo the engine in it. I live in CA too so I face the same tuning and performance issues you do. |

No knowledge? Well H swaps aren't the easiest, but they're not the hardest either. Find a shop, mechanic, or just somebody that knows alot about engines maybe to help you out or something. While the H22 has a little less than 200 hp, you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH IT. The torque from what i hear is out of this world. |
RE: engine swap for 2000 civic auto
i too have a 2000 automatic honda civic (ex), kinda messed up my engine recently when i drove through a huge puddle (damn) and was looking to just swapping the engine instead of fixing it, i have a buddy selling me a rebuilt k20 with everything needed inorder to also make it automatic...does a k20 sound like a bad idea for a civic or no??i'm new to this site...dont know much about cars:(

^ well you should probably start your own thread, but a k swap into a 6th gen IS NOT AN EASY THING. You need alot of random parts and alot of knowledge, time and money. Good luck though! I think www.k20a.org is an aweosme sight, check it out (and next time start your own thread ;))

RE: engine swap for 2000 civic auto
