engine swap

definetly new to this area, have not done a ton of research on it but done some and i'm wondering if you can swap a D16Y8 with a B16B?? If not because I can sorta see why this might not be possible, what are the easier ways to increase your horsepower besides air intake, exhuast, turbo...I'm thinking of the little things that might be neglected due to big purchases...basically what else helps to increase the performance of your engine...any feedback is appreciated, like I said completely new to this topic. Thanks!

RE: engine swap

yes u can and its easy to do. mounts, shift linkage, ecu and harness, thats about it

but y do u want a b18b?

b18c
b18c1
b16a
b16a2
are all much better engines IMO

He wants a B16b, not a B18b

anyway, you can definitely do it... thousands of people have proven that. You need a mount kit for sure, and you'll need a B-series transmission, since the sohc D-series transmission won't fit the dohc B-series motor.

that's about wht i'm planning to do, except that i'm using the b18c for my stupid D15z1 engine....btw...how much will all that cost??

RE: engine swap

if im not mistaken a B16B is a rare motor from the UK and its very expensive.

b16a
b16a 1,2,3, are the most prevelant
or the GSR swap is a good idea also

RE: engine swap

the B16b is from the civic type-r (98-01), so it's jdm

anyway, check http://www.hmotorsonline.com/for motor swaps... I'm probably getting an h22 from them this summer.. the only bad thing I've heard about HMO is that their prices are pretty high, but I figure you get what you pay for.

b18b is a good motor to boost, thats why people put that in their cars. its a ls-vtec engine and if you build them right you could have a nice motor. plus they are not that expensive compared to the b16 or the b18c

RE: engine swap

so you would say it wouldn't be worth paying $3700 for a B16B with 185hp but it would be worth it buying a B18B for $2200 with only 145hp...i know it's $1500 for 40 more hp but wouldn't it be worth it? plus boosting the b16b would provide you with almost close to 300hp with i/h/e as well... i don't know what decent engine list prices are, i got these from the site that reaper listed.
