engine swap
I have a '93 Honda civic DX. I'm planning on doing an engine swap. I know about the B series engines. I was thinking about going with a B18C1, 3, or 5. I would rather go with a B16 block and a B18C1 head. I saw it in another forum and wanted to know if this was possible. I don't know too much about cars. It seems like it would be less expensive and I'm not blessed with money. If i was to do this, what kind of transmission would i need? Also how much HP would i have if i did this swap? Thanks for your time

RE: engine swap
First, I have a B16 swap and if you did a B16 block and a B18 head you won't feel anything, but if oyu had a GSR block and a B16 head, well I am trying to figure that out now lol.
For tranny, I would say the B16 is the one I love the most, but you said you didn't know much about cars so I'll stick with the tranny and the same block. for HP wise you'll see 170-180hp. But you also mentioned that you was thinking about a B18C1(GSR) 3(older type R's 94-97?) 5(newer type R's 98+), and you did also mention you didn't know much so I would just go with a complete B18C1 change over. Since imo a GSR with little modifications here and there will be up to par with a Type R. |
RE: engine swap
a GSR block with a b16 head would be the equivlent of a type R.
the b16 head is made from the same production line as the Type R head but the Type R head has more refinements from the factory. basically its a poor man's type R. |
RE: engine swap
B16 trans > GSR trans.
