RE: Engine Swap

what are you looking to do drag? then the h22 would be great. a lil drag and a lil track? then probly the b18. depends on what its used for. personal preference b18.

RE: Engine Swap

the easier of the 2 swaps is the b series.
although the h series would be a badass swap that i'de do. its going to be a whooooolllle lot more difficult.

if you want a general idea aobut what its goin to cost to do a swap. go to http://hasport.com/tech/hasport_swaps.htmand that'll answer majority of the questoins you have

RE: Engine Swap

the h22 isnt that bad with an h2b tranny kit. at least with that you dont have to hack up your car as much, but its still going to be expensive. The H is a beast even in the much bigger Prelude

RE: Engine Swap

im talking about the fab work for the shifter cables, the mounts, fitment , and especially the wiring isnt anything fun at all

RE: Engine Swap

yea im thinking about just going with the b18 b/c i dont plan on doing any drag or track just something faster and more power! maybe a lil street racing! cuz after the swap i plan on getting a turbo! i found a b18 motor 67k,with the tranny ecu and stock mounts for $2200 is that a good deAL ?

RE: Engine Swap

average price from what i've seen on ebay and websites? I would go with the b18. is that 2200 with shipping or 2200 plus shipping? Also check the source of the engine, junkyard, import from japan, ect. make sure the place u buy it from has some reliablity and maybe even a warranty. Hate to pay that much and all u got was a 500lb lemon. anyway good luck and post some pics

RE: Engine Swap

actualy it would be about 2400 with shipping! and osme of them i seen say that the engines are from japan and other say its a junk yard

RE: Engine Swap

ya my choice would be the b18 it is by far my favorite to watch go in a perform... 2400 is a good price just like they said double check on the source... so ya id def think about the b18 for any time it is alos a good travel engine too.

RE: Engine Swap

theres a kit out now that is basically an adapter plate that you bolt to the engine and trans that allowes you to use the b series trans with an h series motor.

the H2B conversion

riceburner700 06-12-2007 03:01 PM

RE: Engine Swap

its a mighty fint kit^^^ also comes with a flywheel spacer

ic892003 06-12-2007 05:01 PM

RE: Engine Swap

i didnt even know that, whats the difference, faster ratio times??, how about the strain on the tranny?? would it be hard considerign its going from a lessp owerful engine to a h22?

you've got to make sure you've got the right mounts for each side of the engine (drivers side, pass side, rear mount)

everyengine is a little different. not all of them are identical.
what do you want to know about the b18c trans?

Bigwill93hb 06-13-2007 03:30 AM

RE: Engine Swap

i wanted to know if they were good trannys if there were any bad things about them, are they good for a lill racing?

RE: Engine Swap

well my advice may not mean much on this matter since I am a new and all to the forums but not new to motor capabilities. I myself am running an 00 si with a built h22 turbo and a good friend of mine is running an 92 civic vx with h22 non turbo. Then we got one more 96 dx hatch running a b18c with turbo and nitrous and I'm not joking when I say this but he cant touch me. Now my car is currently set up at about 500 hp and his is not. But he is much lighter, so by that we should be somewhat more equal. With that said I definately say h22. the money you will spend WHICH IS NOT MUCH MORE IF YOU PLAN is by far worth it. There is not a new z06 or viper I cant hang with or beat trust me I have done it. So if your gonna swap why not swap the best and do it once the right way. Now it's all personal opinions so in the end your gonna do whats best any way. But there is nothing sweeter than pulling up to a light weight b18 with a turbo who thinks he has something and you smoke it. Trust me I had one and it was built to 450 hp and the guy I sold mine is still trying to out build me. Now I say mine is 500 hp but in reality it is a little more. Gotta make those insurance companies happy :)

RE: Engine Swap

H22 is about 80 lbs heavier than a GSR motor, so stop listening to people saying how heavy it is, its not THAT big of a difference. H22 is a good motor, GSR is a good motor. The H22 obviously has more TQ due to the output, BUT, theyre larger, and slightly harder to work on once theyre swapped into the civic, thats where I saw a problem. I was considering the H22 as well, but I decided to get a JDM GSR. I am happy with it, and I will turbo it once I get a new car, and this one becomes my toy. As for now, im happy with the GSR motor.....it is quick, and loves high rpms. I think you can do better with your price, as I got mine for $3,000 with tranny, axles, blah blah, and its got between 25-35000 miles on it. Assuming its got 30,000 on it, I paid an extra couple hundred bucks for half the mileage. Want my advice? Get the GSR. The B16's are the most OVERRATED honda engines out there.......Not that there is anything wrong with em, but when you compare a B16 to a D16Z6 or Y8, youre barely talking double digit WHP/WTQ gains........BARELY.
