Default engine swap

New to the world of honda. The motor in my boys car took a c**p. I have a 2000 2 doorcivicex 1.6 d16y8 sohc. What years will directly interchange. If I used a 1.6 motor out of a 91 92 will it work or will I need to change all the injection and other accessories with wiring. What are my opptions and what exactly do I need for the change. I would like to change possibly to a 1.6 dohc engine but what do I need to do it(engine tranny ecu axles mounts )? Anyone responding please give me ideas for both ways if you can. Thanks

i don't know what engines will fit, but legally, you cannot swap an engine into your car that's older than the body.

ex. cannot swap a 2001 engine into a 2005 body

okay so your 00 EX is OBD2B meaning only 99-00 engines will drop and plug directly in. 96-98 your going to have some wire conversions to do.

To change to B16 (DOHC 1.6) your looking at needing the following parts from a 99-00 civic si:
Rear tranny/motor T bracket mount (looks like a giant T)
drivers side motor mount
axles
power steering pump bracket
shift linkage
ECU

And then a A/C bracket from a Civic Del Sol.

This is all figureing the car is a 5 speed if its not then you have some extra work cut out for you
