Engine Swap
I have a '92 Civic DX with a dead 1.5L engine. I found a '99 1.6L and I need to know if the 1.6 will drop in. Can anyone help?

Yeah! I think it can make it.

It will drop right in. What is the engine code of the '99 1.6L you are swapping in? If you don't know, then what is the model of the Civic it is coming out of (EX, LX, etc.)?
Use your current engine's intake manifold on the new engine, this will make a lot of the wiring easier. You'll also need this, unless you get the engine harness for the new engine. If you get the engine harness for the new engine, use the new engine's intake manifold. |
can anyone tell me what are the typical hand tools to use for doing a swap? i'm using my old engine to start getting a grasp on mechanics and all but am not sure what kind of tools I'll need.

simple stuff, like a jack, rachet/sockets/extensions, screwdrivers, pliers. An engine hoist would be nice to have, although i've heard you can lower the engine out from underneath (not sure how you would do this).
EDIT: AH! here we go! http://www.civic-eg.com/viewtopic.php?t=22 |
