Engine Swap / Conversion Options

Good afternoon! I'm reasonably new to this, so I figured before I dig a hold into the pavement and start pouring money into it I'd ask a few questions concerning getting more power out of my civic.

Civics have been the only cars I've owned. Last week my 4 door sedan rolled the big 250,000 and started having problems so I bought a 2003 Civic LX coupe. I like the car a lot, and I've been considering having some work done on it, specifically, the engine. She came with a little 1.7 4 banger that has maybe 118 hp. ... it's a little anemic. So needless to say, I've had to do a lot of reading lately about what options are available, and what would be safe / reliable.

What I'm looking to do is have a motor swap done, or do a vtec conversion as I've read you can do that for a reasonable price. I wanted to know if anybody on here has had any work done along those lines to their 7th gen Civics with a similar motor or not.

Any advice you could lend would be much appreciated. Thank you!

-K

Good luck with a motor swap. the only one that will fit is a K series motor, like the K20, or K24. and for a K20 swap it will run ya like $5000 minimum, the K24 you may be able to get for $3500, and those prices are just for the motor...

RE: Engine Swap / Conversion Options

my advice is to sell the car and opt for a 5G or 6G with an H22 or GSR swapped in. it will be much cheaper and much easier to install, and dollar for dollar you will run laps around a K20 7G. the K's run 3.5k minimum and are supposed to be pretty hard and involved to install (se7ensectoolate posted something on it a few months ago in the 7G swap tech thingy).
