Default Engine Swap, help!

I took my car, with the blown rings, to a Honda-specific garage, quoted me $500 for the swap. I had gotten a Skunk2 mega power cat back system for him to put in as well. Turns out when I called him, that my exhaust system (he says) was made for an inline cat. It's just a stock D16Y7 that he put in, from a 2000 civic, into my 1997. So they had to manufacture a part, and dick around with it for a couple of hours... First of all, is this guy just tryin to make a buck on me? Or did Partsource sell me the wrong part? Either way, I'm stuck with a bill.

If you actually had an exhaust for a EX (D16Y8) then yes, he would have had to modify it to make it fit.

The stock EX in Canada has the D16Y7, and that's the part that I ordered from Partsource. (Skunk2 for the EX, D16Y7) I'm just hoping that he hasn't butchered my exhaust. I paid over 620 CAD for it

Sounds legit, but yeah he probabaly should have let you know before going ahead and doing it. An EX has a cat that is inline like you said, but an LX, DX has a cat right off the header, which means you need a downpipe to mate them up correctly.

Ya, he showed me what he did, looked good, and sounds better. I told him he should have called me beforehand. It all turned out well, and only cost me like $250 for the fabrication, as well as hanging the whole exhaust system, so I didn't complain too much.

Ya I musta been stressin yesterday, cause I have a DX not an EX... my bad.
