Engine type, last part meaning?
 

Hi, I'm new to all this so please forgive this question if it is seemingly easy... but what does the last part of of an engine code mean?

Mine's a D16Y7 (Civic LSi in Europe.) I get that it's a D series engine which is a 1600cc, but how about the ending?

In europe, do you find the D16Y8 in the Civic SRi model, and the B series engine in the VTI?

It's the engine/generation

D = Series of engine
16 = 1.6 liter or 1600cc displacement
Y7 = The specific engine. A number indicates that it is a later generation of that engine
