RE: Expensive Machine Shop Estimate

I was expecting under 2000, is this place giving me too high of an estimate. They said they will do boring, honing, and balancing. Any input or information will be appreciated, I will be calling around more machine shops.

Just talked to a 2nd shop! I cant believe the difference in this estimate!
$1600 and that includes the boring, balancing, rebuilding the head, and installing all my parts and grinding or polishing the crank I believe he said. He needs the engine out of the car though, how much does a shop usually charge to remove the engine?

Any suggestions or comments? I am going to keep this thread active over the next few weeks while my car goes to the shop.

I talked to my local JDM Source shop, the guy was on his break and I have to call back but he said I can get an estimate for the engine removal on the phone.
Car will be in the machine shop in 2 weeks!
