Few questions bout motor
ok so i just got a civic off my buddy that he recently did a sawp in it and im pretty unfamalliar with civic but am a licensed mechanic. now the has the d16 vtec the car does not have an ecu. the car itself was orginally not vtec. so my question is will the p28 ecu just be plug n play or will that have to be modded? also is the p28 the only ecu i can put in the car? thanks

Yea, we need to know the engine code to tell you.
If it's a D16Z6 get a P28 ECU.
If it's a D16Y8 and you don't have to pass smog in your state, get an OBD2-OBD1 ECU conversion harness from phearable.net and then use a P28 ECU.
Also, did he swap engine harnesses too? If the engine harness hasn't been swapped you'll need to run two wires from the VTEC oil pressure switch and VTEC solenoid to the ECU. On OBD1 ECU Harnesses, the VTEC solenoid wire is at pin A4. Not sure where the oil pressure switch is, but you can look it up.

the car is a 92. and my buddy had said something about having to run two wires to the ecu. and all i knwo about the motor is that it is a d16 vetec i would check the engine code but the car isnt at my house its at my garage so. but what im gathering from all this is that i should get the p28 ecu and run the two wires? if im wrong here please correct me.
