the motor is a d16z6. and i know you guys said i need a p28 but is it possible to use a non vtec ecu? then woudl the vtec just not work or do i have to use the p28. and if so what is the best place to get a p28 because saturday i went to 7 junkyards and every civic i found already had the ecu taken out. so they seem to go quick.

your going to be hard pressed to find any Honda ECU in a junkyard.

You can use a non vtec ODB1 ECU but Vtec would not engage. Your best place to look for an ECU is going to be eBay, HT, here, or other forum FS sections.

yeah ECU's are hot money, some website will buy them off you just to chip them and re-sell them.

But p28 is what you need, you can get them cheap off eBay

ok. i checked ebay and saw the price i jsut wasnt sure if they were the best quality i guess is the word im looking for. money is not really and issue for me. i leave for basic training for the army and my brother is going to finish working on the car for me while im gone. so i wll have money. umm so if i used a non vtec (only reason i would do that is to get it on the road right now) will that affect the driving at all? and also i was wondering we had had my buddys p28 hooked up to the car but did not have the wires running to the vtec. did not know they had to but ne way. all the car would to is crank it wouldnt kick over. so we put a new disrubutor on (old one was bad) and still nothing. it has fuel and it has spark. we allso did a compression check and all cylinders were arounf 135 the 4th was arounf 117? is that bad and would that keep it from starting? if not what else could it be. sorry for all the question and if any of the questions have already been answered in other posted i apologize i did search but did not find answers but that doesnt mean there isnt. but thank you guys all very much so far for all your help.
