Gas Milage

I have a 95 DX hatchback. Milage is around 38 highway. I would like to increase fuel efficiency. Any suggestions?

What makes the VX model so good on gas, compared to the DX?

Thanks,
Hank

RE: Gas Milage

vtec-e. its a gas-mileage specific vtec. it basically runs off of 2 valves per cylinder until it hits a certain rpm, then it switches over to run all four valves. it opens the other valves a very little bit on the low rpms, this causes a swirl in the combustion chamber that mixs the air/fuel mixture very well. this allows it to run a very lean mixture, hence better gas mileage. as for yours, i had an intake (short ram) on mine, as well as an ex tranny, which should hurt the mileage, but i regularly got over 40 on the freeway, and as much as about 52. i advanced the ignition timing and ran strictly premium (necessary to prevent detonation with advanced ignition timing), that made all the difference in the world. dang, i need to make this advice a sticky.
