good idea?
is it a good idea when doing a swap, to buy a motor that came from a car that was Automatic, and just buy the tranny seperately.
Like say I bought an H22 form an auto prelude, and just bought a 5spd tranny, that way you know it hasnt been raced |
RE: good idea?
Sure why not. i see no issues with that, just be sure to get ALL the manual stuff that you need

RE: good idea?
sounds good.. get a B16 tranny, be untouchable if you decide to throw a turbo on it.

ORIGINAL: rice_eater not sure if I wanna deal with the extra weight up front though. |
RE: good idea?
I thought it was only ~30lbs heavier than a B...and a lot heavier thana D....hrmmm....I guess I must have read something wrong?
|
RE: good idea?
You might be right, I'll go find the thread with the weights... I don't think a b is much heavier than a d, is it?
*edit: found it.. it's a 23 lb difference between a d16 and an h22. A turbo setup weighs more than that, so I wouldn't worry about the weight. ;) |
RE: good idea?
hehe I just read that same thread...yeah doesnt look like enough difference to really worry about.

RE: good idea?
cool thanks everyone.
Ok another question. Technically what would be more illegal for me. A JDM B16 with OBD1 (eventhough im OBD2) or a JDM B18C with OBD2 Since I have a civic, it makes sense to have a b16, but i would have to convert to obd1 which is illegal. But the GSR is Obd2. Sorry if this is confusing |
