does my 2003 civic lx coupe have a governer on it...if so is it worth taking out..will it give me better acceleartion or just higher max speed

 

I'm no expert but I highly dought your car has a governer. It could have a rev limiter at a certain rpm or mph. Thats possible.

 

You can't just take it out, you would have to replace the ECU. But to find out if it has one or not go on the interstate and find out. [when there isn't any traffic]

 

well isn't that what a governer is something that stops u at a certian speed

 

no, a rev limiter stops ur engine from reving past a set rpm, govener stops ur car from going past a set mph

I have an 00 Civic Si and i had it going over 144 thats the last number on the spedo but i had it barried so i think i was doing lik 150-155 so it shouldnt have a speed limiter most imports dont have one.

 

what mods do you have, cuz if it's stock, you were NOT doing 150-155

 

i have greddy cat back, header, cold air intake, pistons and venom 400 chip...a ram air v6 grand am tried 2 pull up next 2 me in a passing zone at 55 so i threw it into 3rd and walked away from him like nothing it took a little while 2 get up there but i know that the spedo was barried

 

i dont think i ahve a rev limited i alwyas hafta stop beofre red lining my car. i thik i wnat a rev limiter tho. how do i get one, how much is it and is it hard to install
