Guidance

New guy here.

Just got a 2001 Civic EX 5spd.

I plan on putting an AEM V2 intake on and need suggestions on headers/exhaust.

Should I do the new header and exhaust swap at the same time? Are these things that a backyard mechanic can do? I wrench my bikes (stunt and street), so I know a thing or two when it comes to garage work.

congrats on yer 7 gen buy...se7en would be proud

as for the intake and eshaust, the AEM V2 CAI is the best one out there, its been dyno proven. catback, id say Evo2, just as always. as for a header, it depends on if you plan on turbo charging. if you do you dont need the header, because when you put the turbo on you will just be ripping it off and selling it on ebay anyways. if you must get a header, get a cheep 150 dollar one off ebay. then when you turbo you can sell it back on ebay for the same price. if you get say a ceramic DC Sports header for 300 bucks, your gunna lose 150 cuz your sellin it for 150 or hterabouts. but if you dont plan on turboing, get the DC Sports, or the GReddy is a great header too.

as for your question about ease of the modding, all three will bolt right on to your car. its basically rip off the old stuff bolt on the new stuff, get some bandaids for your bleeding knuckles, and go down the highway like WEEEEEE

sweet. looking forward to getting these things done. This car is so slow compared to my bikes.

After I get these basics out of the way, whats next? I was thinking body kit and drop, then rims.

No plans for a turbo. If I get that serious, I plan on a K20 swap.

RE: Guidance

the K20 is expensive as hell...but if you have the fund its well worth it. se7ensectoolate has a K20 turbo setup (he recently rebuilt it too cuz his friend over-revved it and destroyed the engine) and before the rebuild was runnin just under 12 in a FWD civic...thats pretty damn good for FWD. he hasnt been on for a while...but he was talkin about taking it back to the track after the rebuild, but hasnt posted since.

and i bet it is slow as hell compared to your bikes :P
