head swap help

ok i have a d15b7 and would like to know if a d16y7 head would fit and would it work with a turbo setup as i have a t3 42 trim i am using, i dont want v-tec as i just dont want to deal with the wiring. the civic is a 93 dx coupe ,also what else would i need if i do use the head ,like timing belt ,or cam so on and so on , thanks for the help and the only resone i am looking into this is because a buddy has a head he rebuilt and did a p&p job on it , for like 150 bucks if i want it ;)so please let me know if it would be worth it :)

RE: head swap help

y7 head
y7 timing belt
y7 head bolts

those items are really the only thing you will need to bolt the head up to your block. using this set up will raise your compression slightly and will also allow the use of the y7's larger valves. personally i dont think its worth it the compression gain will help to make a little more power, although this can be accomplished by just keeping your head and using the z6 headgasket(3 layer mls). althought the y7 has larger valves, the cam profile is smaller than your b7. so in fact there is really not much of a gain if any by doing this head swap. although i do think its cool having the spark plugs at the front of the head:D

so the bigger valves will help with the turbo ,right it will allow more air in to the chamber, or will the raised compression be to much to turbo and cause problems, all so would i be able to use a d15 cam to raise the profile a little or wont the d15 cam fit or cause the valves to hit the piston, just some things i would like to know:)

any time you change your C/R, you need to have your car retuned...the turbo will still work, just get it retuned....it shouldnt be far off though so you might be able to go without, it just wont run the best it should. but no, your valves wont hit the pistons, they are larger, like around, not height...atleast i think.

yes there just larger in diameter..........but being the cam profile is less on the y7......your really not going to flow any more than your b7 head anyways.

ok but could i use the d15 cam to increase the lobe profile to open the valves a little more on the y7 head or wont it fit?
