Heater Problem
 

I am new to the forum,I have a 97 LX and the heater does not get warm. Looking for any input to remedy the prob.

is your heat gauge working? and geting up to proper temp?

if not your thermostat is most likely stuck open........ not allowing for your car to warm up to put out heat....

OR if your gauge goes up and down realy hot then cool... then your coolant level is low which isnt given ya heat...

JUST BE SURE TO CHECK THE FLUID WHEN YOUR CAR IS COLD!!!!!!!!! dont want to get sprayed by hot steaming fluid!

The guage reads about one quarter, and the coolant is at the proper level. Location of the thermostat????

well not POSITIVE... but it should be inline with your radiators top hose right onto the block.... shouldbe 2-3bolts holding on the hose housing...
just be sure to buy a new thermostat as well as a new gasket and alittle sealer, as well as alittle more fluid to top it back off when changing it... and clean the surface realy good before sealing it and the new gasket on....

hopefully that will fix the problem......
if not its something more severe........
maybe your heater core is sloged....

but the thermostat is your cheapest trial......

I replaced the thermostat, no luck. Looks like it is either the heater valve control or the core, Any help in replacing the heater core will be much appreciated

i beleive on your car, a cable goe through the firewall and operates the heater valve, makesure that when you slide the heat control that the valve actually moves, it may be that the cable is disconnected.

I had located the heater valve, and made sure is was functional by moving it and checking the control inside. I also whils the engine was running I had adjusted at the valveto see if any change.
