i have a leaking cam seal. So today i decide im going to fix it, so i pull off the valve cover and everything else and get to where the cam seal SHOULD be. either they gave me the wrong replacement seal(because it wouldnt fit)or i dont even have one...just kidding i know i have one but how do i replace it. I pulled the cam completely out and i couldnt figure it out someone help please

 

you should see the seal with the valve cover on, can you post any pics?

 

the seal is a rubber circle with a spring in the center of it...right thats what they gave me at the parts store but there isnt anything that even resmbles that on the end of my cam there is a plastic cap but i dont think that could cause it to leak but i can see that with the valve cover on

 

actually, ive only seen a Jackson Racing one outside of an engine, but it didnt look anything like that. i dont remember any spring. it was a small round metal cylinder with two rubber rings around it. see if you can post a pic, that would help.

 

well i didnt mean an actual spring. its a metal ring in the center or the rubber ring to keep the seal tight on the end of the cam. ok let me put it this way...you've seen a mitsu cam and seal right? the seal the parts store gave me looks just like that only when i took my cams out it wont fit on the end and there isnt anything that looks like that there either...?

Looks like the other side cam Seal.

thus the hole in it. Its for the side where the gear sticks out, not the side that you are looking at.
got the wrong part if you are leaking on the dizzy side.

 

yeah that was my next guess but i wasnt sure what the other side looked like but thanks for the advice boomer
