Help...Thinking about new motor....
 

Hey guys i have a d15b7 motor in 94 civic sedan. i want to get something more powerful but nothing to complicated. I understand that a d16 v-tec will drop right in but i dont want to have to change the ecu or the trasmission. I need to know what the best and easiest way to drop in a new motor without doin a high end swap.

build the b7 and boost it or just boost it the b7 has a good r/s ratio and you will see way more gains with boost than just with a vtec d series always could do a mini me swap but you would have to change out the ecu no matter what if you want vtec.

any motor swap will require ecu swap. you don't have to change your transmission, as long as the swapped motor is a d-series.
If you've already invested money in the car, do a mini-me swap.
If the car is stock (or you can easily make it stock by for example putting the stock intake back on if you've upgraded it), just sell it and get a civic EX (has the D16Z6 already in it, and a closer geared transmission). It's less work, and probably costs less overall too. For a mini-me swap you can expect to spend $500. For a full D16Z6 swap you can expect to spend $600 at least.
The easiest thing to do is just sell it and get another civic that already has the engine you want. You might even make money off the deal.

D series drop right in, B series drop in pretty easily too, just a little more work, H series are next hardest, involving custom mounts i believe, and then theres the K swap, which is a headache and half and you gotta have some deep pockets for that. An H22a has some mad torque and is pretty similar to a B series swap. A D can be built and dropped pretty easily and FAIRLY cheap (remember though, REAL power takes REAL money. Fast, Cheap, Reliable. Pick 2 and you have your basic scheme of things when it comes to car parts).
