i was wondering if the 97 honda civic EX 2dr or the HX model is faster and what makes it faster? Is the Hx 2cams or 1 what about the ex? which one can u make faster? Would you rather Buy a 99 honda civic EX with a DOHC Vtec engine & 65,000miles, OBX headers & Rear molded body kit and needs about $1500 in interrior and body work ( racing seats, carpet, paint job, camber kit, ect) or buy a 97 civic HX stock as SH** with 121,500miles? The 97 HX is going for $2,500 and the 99 is going for $3,000.

 

If indeed the EX has a dual cam (DOHC) motor then it's a no-brainer. Get the EX, but they came with a SOHC 1.6L VTEC with 127Hp. The Hx are popular becasue they were built for economy and are therefore much lighter than the other models. The motor onyl has like 80Hp or something, but people get them to swap a more powerful motor into the lighter chassis.

 

^^are you sure about that? i was under the impression that the HX had more pwoer than a DX or LX but less than an EX

 

Actually it might be the Cx I am thinking about, I get them confused, but even if, the Hx is only gonna have like 106Hp and lighter than the Ex.

Bottom line- get the Ex.

 

i thought it was 115 and lighter. i dunno. i know an HX with bolt ons will be faster than a stock EX
