How are camshaft effective ?

Hi, i was wondering.... if the sstock camshaft can take utpo 400 bhp on the b16a... then why do people still go in for SKUNK2 or Kelford or Crower... or watever...

tell me does it help in adding horse power so that i can save some money by not putting camshafts and buy something better...

let me know please....

i love honda civic forum...

It depends on the application it's being used for; for a turbo you want very little overlap between when the intake and exhaust valves are open. w/ N/A you want more overlap. Aftermarket N/A cams provide more lift and longer duration. Don't know all that much about turbo cams except what I stated above.

they give you more power by increasing duration and/or lift of the opened valve and make your car breathe more easily

bolt-ons are bolt-ons...cam's are essentially bolt-ons, and that's the next natuaral step after I/H/E
