I NEED MORE POWER OUTTA MY D17A2
ok...i have a 2004 civic ex w/ the d17a2 motor. Im tryin to tinker with every possible idea to get more power before I am forced to spray, go on boost, or do the k20 swap. i dont want much....i want to bring my hp up to 200, 275 the most...anyone have ideas? any help is appreciated. thanks
yea thats what people have been telling me. so theres no type of head swap thing i can do at all? im really trying to avoid boosting the car because of the dependability and high matenance factor....and k20 swap is a lil out my price range....maybe a cheaper engine swap?
u could probally go with a port and polish and a higher compression ratio until u do the engine swap for the higher compression ratio this can easily be achieved by milling the head or useing a thinner head gasket or a combanation of both the only problem with this is 91 or 93 octane gas prices is going to be a *****.
200-275 is only achievable with spray or turbo, I am currently building a D17 as well, I have done a Y8 Skunk2 IM and TB swap, header, exhaust, 99SI Secret Weapon intake, UR pulleys, my future plans are Crower stage2 cam w/ full head work (springs, retainers, valves, port and polish and milling to achieve 12.5-13:1 comp ration) along with Crower Rods and Wiseco high comp pistons (10.8-11.3) and I'm expecting to hit about 180-195 with all that and 250-300 with dual stage N2O kit.
ok....how much did it cost you in the end to do all of that? and also...i was reading in a honda tunnig magazine that the d17a2 was one of the hardest motors to boost....something about a return fuel system or somethin like that...if i did plan to boost it, would there be anything extra or "special" that i would need to do?
