blown up d16y5 with a cvt tranny

i found a d16y8 with like 80k.

i offered him 400. Will my harness and computer work or will i need a new one?

and in theory, it should bolt right up to the cvt right?

Computer........ hmmmmmmmmmm..... I have read on this before but cannot remember how the car runs with the y5 ecu on a y8.

Pretty sure you need the ECU man.

 

im not super worried about buying a ecu, but mainly the tranny

 

yes everything will plug up and bolt up, just you will need a ecu for the d16y8 because the d16y8 vtec engaugement is different than the d16y5, but nice find, hope it works out for ya, get seller to put it in writting, and sign.

 

so the harness will work. sweet. i saw some ecu(s) on ebay for around 80 bucks.

assuming everything goes right i will have less than 1000 dollars in a running car.
