i want me the z6
well im trying to get a d16z6 or get the head, to put on my car. i have a d15b2 right now, so i was wondering what i would need to swap the engine? would i need a new ecu? i also would need to get a new tranny, but since i plan to go turbo, which should i get? any help would be awesome. thanks

RE: i want me the z6
I'd prefer a D15 for turbo. Just me though.

RE: i want me the z6
buy a complete d15b swap

RE: i want me the z6
if you swap to a z6 head you need the ecu.
|
RE: i want me the z6
you say a d15 swap? i have a d15b2...the reason why i am considering the z6 is because they are relatively cheaper than a b16...since i want a vtec motor ya know? and i always thought that there was a lot of cheap parts for them. so yeah i would have to get the ecu out of the car that i got the engine out of, like a 95 ex or whatever?

RE: i want me the z6
the JDM D15B does have vtec. its one of the most powerful D's that were made by honda.

RE: i want me the z6
Eh your d15b2 will be good, just preform a "mini-me" on it. Search for that term. It consists of putting a vtec head on your non vtec block, and converting the engine to vtec via electronics.

RE: i want me the z6
ive heard of a mini me before, i was actually going to do that at one point. i thought that the jdm d15b is the z6, or did i just not understand that correctly.
is the jdm d15b good to handle boost though? cause that is what i plan on doing next after i get my motor. |
RE: i want me the z6
vtec is so over rated these days.. unless you are cam'd different fuel maps its only for economy
|
RE: i want me the z6
depends on the VTEC. DOHC VTEC is designed for power...everything else is basically economy.
the JDM D15B is a whole beast of its own. when you get down to the grit of it, its a D15 block with a d16 crank and rods with its own pistons, and a z6 head with its own, more agressive cam. |
