i want me the z6

RE: i want me the z6
man i think i am considering a mini me now. i am doing a lot of research on this site and lots of people say its a good thing to do. also i would learn a lot more about hondas. i would do all the internals. another main reason that i am considering the mini me is because it is a little bit cheaper then the whole d15b engine, but i still dont know, that d15b is so enticing. man engine choices sure put a lot on the mind.

Just use your B2. An idea I have (and will probably do it) is to use an old USDM D15, have the block bored .5mm over, decked to accomodate some OS D17A2 pistons, rods shotpeened, Z6 head (milled as little as possible for a true surface), new Z6 headgasket, new Z6 water and oil pumps, and AC removed. Not sure if I'll use the stock cam or updgrade. Also not sure on what timing belt I'll need to use (Z6 I would think). Also not sure on the piston rings. Will use ACL bearings. This set up will yield a static compression ratio of 9.4~9.5:1. I want to get 200-250whp out of it, and test the strength of the OEM internals. I'll be testing a lot of other things as well. Should make for some good write ups.

more agressive cam.
more agressive cam.
as we all know, the jdm d15b motor (sohc vtec) is said to have a more agressive cam than its counterpart here in the US (d16z6)...
D15B VTEC? The cam's already more aggressive than the Z6 cam.
But since the head (other than the the cam shaft) is identical to the D16Z6,
and the D15B has the most aggresive cam of all Dseries
the d15b has a more aggresive cam which is similar to some aftermarket cam or something like that
the d15b is almost identical to the z6. the d15b has a more aggressive cam... thats about it.
D15B for me because they ship with low miles, they have a more aggressive cam than the z6
satisfied?

i know that it has the more aggressive cam, i am satisfied with that, but what i am not satisified with is which head to use now on my mini me, or nail do you still recommend the d15b?

RE: i want me the z6
no. if you're just doing the mini me then go with the z6 head. d15b heads are hard to come by because most of the engines are imported directly from japan or bought out of some import shop in california...and very rarely are they ever parted out simply because japanese people only put 30-35k miles on them before they get a new car. it would be a waste of a perfectly good short block.
that being said, if you want the most power then do a full d15b swap. theyre fairly easy to come by as a whole swap and the swaps are usually much lower milage than a d16z6 since theyre USDM and US drivers tend to drive civics 'till their wheels fall off.

RE: i want me the z6
on the mini me just get a Z6 head, the JDM D15B and Z6 have the exact same head. The only thing I can think that is different which I cant prove yet is that the valve springs in the JDM D15B head are slightly stiffer.
