JDM D15
Is a JDM VTEC D15 block the same as a D15B7 block. Im guessing the only thing diff about the 2 engines is the head?

RE: JDM D15
its a d15 block with a z6 head. but its a special engine like a b16b ctr engine. it uses a d15 crank and d16 rods which are longer then the d15s, then it uses special shorter pistons to lower the compression height. this give the engine a better rod to stroke ratio, whcih means the piston moves slower allowing for high rpm reliablity.
its a great engine, the cam is a little more agressive too, and i think it has a little bit higher compression over a z6, and better fuel maps in the ecu, and it had an option of an lsd transmission. |
RE: JDM D15
ah i see. Another quick question, I see some older d15b's have carbs, does this mean the head will always have to use a carb?
|
RE: JDM D15
i don't know about that, i would think you could add fuel injection, if it had carbs to start i would just put better ones one. a guy on another site uses motorcycle carbs on his d15b2, its a pretty sweet setup

RE: JDM D15
the JDM d15b is the most powerful d series, so why all the hype about the z6?
|
RE: JDM D15
because you can get a z6 basically wherever you can get a honda.
the d15b is what went in the 5G JDM Si. in the US we got the z6.the b isbasically the japanese stepup from what they shipped to the US. |
RE: JDM D15
so whats the diff between the heads? Nothing?
|
RE: JDM D15
im pretty sure they are the same head.
|
RE: JDM D15
the heads are the same, just from what i hear a different slightly more aggresive cam which may not even be true.
|
RE: JDM D15
Camis the same as Z6.
